Pro-Gaza protests continue in Turkey

July 19, 2014 at 12:42 pm

Protests continued in various Turkish cities on Friday, particularly in front of Israeli diplomatic missions in Istanbul and Ankara, Anadolu reported.

Hundreds of Turks gathered at the Israeli consulate in Istanbul in protest against Israel’s ground invasion of Gaza, which started on Thursday.

Protesters chanted against Israel and called for closing the embassy.

The protest has been organised by a number of NGOs.

One of the organisers delivered a speech, condemning the Israeli onslaught and the West’s silence and inaction towards Israel’s”brutal killing of unarmed civilians.”

Security forces dispersed the protest using water cannons as a number of protesters tried to storm the consulate’s building.
