Mubarak's party seeks return to political life

December 9, 2014 at 12:49 pm

Egypt’s National Democratic Party is reported to have filed a lawsuit before the State Council Administrative Court demanding the party be allowed to return to political life after a court dismissed all charges against ousted President Hosni Mubarak and other party figures last week.

Lawyer Khalid Hassan Al-Jundi who filed the lawsuit said that since Mubarak, who was president of the National Party, was acquitted of all charges against him, the party is innocent of all charges against it.

Al-Jundi claimed that since the dissolution of the National Democratic Party, no member has called for the destruction of Egypt, the demolition of state institutions or violations of the law and public order; instead they all respected the law and accepted the judgment. This, he said, is contrary to the Freedom and Justice Party founders who caused havoc before and after the ruling to dissolve their party.
