Egypt will increase locally made drugs prices that cost up to 30 pounds ($3.38) by 20 per cent, Egypt’s Health Minister revealed Monday.
Ahmed Imad Eddin, the Health Minister said during a press conference that the new increase will take effect as of today, noting that the government will revoke the license of pharmaceutical companies that do not provide these medicines.
Several pharmaceutical companies have stopped producing some generic medicines over the past few months to cut off growing losses.
The Health Ministry said in December last year that 189 drugs were in short supply but had available substitutes and a further 43 drugs were in short supply with no substitute.
