Relations between Algeria and Saudi Arabia are appearing to fall into a stage of warming as the two countries have recently shown keenness to build on their mutual interests.
Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reported yesterday that the Deputy Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia discussed bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interest with the Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.
On Tuesday, the Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman greeted Abdelmalek Sellal as he landed in Riyadh with a delegation for a diplomatic visit to the kingdom and to attend the Algerian and Saudi Economic Operators Forum in the Saudi capital Riyadh.
This comes while the Algerian prime minister expressed his country’s support for Saudi Arabia in its fight against terrorism, saying that the Algerian people will stand against all those who seek to harm the holy places of Islam. The comment was in reference to the Yemeni Shia Houthi rebels’ attacks on Makkah, Islam’s holiest site.
