The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Palestine Development and Investment Company (PADICO), Bashar Masri, and the accompanying delegation checked on the factories that were completely or partially destroyed, and the solar energy project which was launched just three months ago.

During the aggression on the Gaza Strip, the industrial city of Gaza incurred great losses, as the city was subjected to direct bombardment, which led to the destruction of a large part of the solar power generation project, in addition to the destruction of ten factories, with a total area of more than 6,000 square metres. Fourteen more factories were partially destroyed.

“Three months ago, we opened the electric power generation project after 4 years of difficulties and obstacles. Today, because of the bombing, this destruction has occurred in the industrial city of Gaza, which is the backbone of the economy of the Strip,” Masri said.

Plans are now being drawn up to develop the industrial zone so the factories can resume operations, the official added, stressing that this is vital to help provide employment to those living in Gaza especially as 600 employees lost their jobs as a result of the destruction of these factories.
