The Cairo Criminal Court sentenced a woman to death on Monday for the cover-up of her husband’s murder and assisting the killer in the act. The murder took place eighteen months ago.

Neighbours in Al-Marg neighbourhood heard the wife’s hysterical screams and calls to save her husband’s life, local media outlets reported. They hurried to the apartment to find the husband “drenched in his blood” while his wife was crying and screaming next to him.

At the time, the victim’s wife claimed that thieves had broken into the apartment and when her husband confronted them, they stabbed him with a kitchen knife. However, investigations revealed that the woman was having an affair with another man, and when the husband caught them together, they killed him and fabricated the robbery story to cover up their crime.
