Oman does not see the need to send foreign forces to the Gaza Strip after a ceasefire is agreed to end the genocide in the Strip, Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi said today, adding that the Palestinians are capable of governing themselves.

Speaking at the ‘Oman and the World’ conference organised by the Ministry of Information in the capital Muscat, Al-Busaidi responded to a question about the possibility of Gulf countries sending troops to the Gaza Strip.

Palestine is for the Palestinians, and they are capable of governing themselves

he said.

“Palestine has the necessary competencies and capabilities to govern itself without external interference from anyone,” he continued, adding that other countries should help by funding the Palestinians and continuing diplomatic work to support them.

This comes after Western media outlets reported a proposal that would see a multinational force in which some countries in the region would participate if the United States supported steps towards establishing a Palestinian state.

Al-Busaidi called on Palestinians to unite to overcome the current crises.

The Middle East, he explained, “will not enjoy peace” if the Palestinian issue is not addressed.
