The family of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) Supreme Guide Mohammed Badie has revealed details of “unjustified punishment” he received at the hands of the prison guards, Almesryoon.com reported on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the family, Badie has been subjected to continuous aggression by the security services in his cell and on his way to court, noting that he had been put alone in a small cell and deprived of “the least rights for any normal human.”

In the statement, the family said that the security services do not respect his age, 73, or social status or his degrees.

The family relayed details of an event which took place on 9 September 2015 when Badie was being return to jail after his court hearing. During the trip, a security officer insulted him and beat him because he reported a dream seen by one of prisoners in which he saw Islam’s Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) who told him that the current regime would end soon.

Despite a complaint to the Public Prosecution, the officer repeated the insults and beatings the following week.

In the statement, the family wondered if this is how an old man who is well known is treated, what might be happening to young and unknown prisoners.

The family blamed the authorities for the continuous aggression on Badie and criticised the role of the human rights organisations which remain silent despite the clear violations of human rights in Egyptian prisons.
