A series of blasts, which Daesh claimed responsibility for, rocked the two Syrian cities of Jabla and Tartous, killing at least 145 and injuring scores more.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that more than 145 persons were killed in the most violent bombings witnessed in Syria’s coastal cities which are under regime control. The spokesperson for Local Coordination Committees in Latakia, Abu Melhem Al-Jablawy, told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that more than 60 people were killed in Jabla and 47 in Tartous.
The Syrian news agency, which is affiliated with the Syrian regime, cited police sources in Latakia as saying that 45 persons were killed in Jabla and 33 in Latakia.
Daesh claimed responsibility for the blasts. The group’s Aamaq News Agency said: “Attacks by Daesh fighters hit Alawaite gatherings in the two cities of Tartous and Jabla on the Syrian coast.”
Sources told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the string of blasts was likely caused by rocket-propelled grenades.
