Teenager arrested in Saudi Arabia for dancing the Macarena

A 14 year-old-boy has been arrested in Saudi Arabia for dancing the 1990s hit tune Macarena in the middle of the street in the coastal city of Jeddah.

Saudi police have released a statement saying that the teenager, who has not been named, has been detained for questioning after accusations of “improper public behaviour”.

The boy was filmed performing the popular dance routine in in July last year however he was arrested recently when the video went viral.

The arrest has led to a debate over Saudi Arabia’s strict laws, with many hailing the teenager as a hero on social media and some branding his behaviour “immoral” and condemning the video.
