The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in Lebanon has condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli occupation forces’ storming of the home of its captive leader Ahmed Saadat in the occupied West Bank, and the arrest of his wife, Abla Saadat.
In a statement issued yesterday, the PFLP’s Prisoners and Freed Prisoners Committee denounced the continued detention of Palestinian political prisoners, especially sick prisoners, children and the elderly, and the withholding of the bodies of prisoners who have died or been killed in detention.
It said the Israel Prison Service exposes female and male prisoners to all forms of retaliatory measures, humiliation and starvation, crimes of physical and psychological torture and violations inside its prisons, concealing their places of detention, their numbers and the method and condition of their detention.
According to the statement, this escalation comes after a series of attacks on male and female prisoners, with freed detainees highlighting the war crimes being committed against prisoners.
The committee held the Israeli occupation forces fully responsible for the lives of detained leader Saadat and the leading activist, Khalida Jarrar, who suffers from a difficult health condition, and all male and female prisoners.
It called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to visit the prisoners to assess their health and provide them with the necessary medicine, water, food and clothing.
