Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Cairo on Wednesday night, in the first visit to Egypt by an official from the Islamic Republic at this level since 2013, official media in Tehran have reported. The visit comes amid a serious escalation of tension in the Middle East.
Araghchi arrived in Cairo from Amman on a regional tour that also includes Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman.
The tour comes amid Israel’s threat to respond to an Iranian missile attack that targeted the occupation state on 1 October, and Tehran’s vow to respond to any attack that it may face.
