At least eleven people, mostly civilians, were killed on Sunday in a suspected Israeli air strike on the Damascus countryside, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.

The war monitor said the Israeli air strike targeted a weapons depot belonging to the regime of former President Bashar Al-Assad near the industrial city of Adra, northeast of Damascus.

According to SOHR, efforts continued yesterday to remove rubble and recover bodies from the site.

Since the ouster of Bashar al- Assad and the fall of his regime, Israel has escalated its attacks against the regime’s military sites and weapons depots in a bid to destroy the country’s military infrastructure.

On 22 December, SOHR sources reported that local residents in the Tartus countryside, detonated the remaining missiles and ammunition in warehouses that had been targeted by Israeli warplanes to avoid being subjected to new Israeli bombardment.
