Palestinian presidency condemns killing of Palestinian teen near Nablus

December 30, 2014 at 11:31 am

The Palestinian presidency has condemned the killing of a Palestinian boy by the Israeli army near Nablus on Monday, Anadolu Agency reported.

Imam Jamil Dweikat, 17, was shot dead at Zatara checkpoint, south of Nablus, West Bank, Israeli Channel 7 and Palestinian medical sources reported.

According to the Palestinian official news agency, the statement issued by the presidency said that the killing of Dweikat proved that the Palestinian and Arab decision to demand the UN Security Council end the Israeli occupation and stop the suffering of the unarmed Palestinian people was the correct decision.

The Palestinian presidency demanded the international community “stand by the Palestinian bill to rid the Palestinian people from the ravages of the occupation and put an end to its crimes against our unarmed people”.

Jordan, which represents Arab countries on the Security Council, has submitted a draft United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an end to the Israeli occupation by 2017, on behalf of the Palestinian leadership.

The proposal – a revision of a draft previously submitted by Jordan earlier this month – needs nine votes from 15 members of the Council; however the US is expected to block the resolution by using its veto power.
