Egypt’s new members of parliament have reviewed and approved as many as 123 laws each day since 18 January 2014 when the constitution was approved in a popular referendum.
According to the Egyptian constitution, lawmakers have 15 days to discuss and approve laws
The laws include 42 issued by Judge Adly Mansour who became Egypt’s interim president following the ouster of Egypt’s first freely elected President Mohamed Morsi in 2013 until the election of Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi.
The laws include 289 issued by Al-Sisi, including 115 new pieces of legislation or legislative amendments and 158 consolidating the economic bodies’ budgets.
Social media websites quotes a member of the Legislative Committee saying the committee’s actions are routine and they can only approve laws.
