Tunisian MP Latifa Habshi said yesterday that the country’s constitution supports the Palestinian cause and other liberation movements, the Palestinian Al-Resalah newspaper reported.

Commenting on what has been reported as the Israeli assassination of the Tunisian aviation engineer last week, Habshi accused Israel of “sawing the seeds of sedition” in the region in order to “meltdown” the Palestinian cause.

About the relationship of the Tunisians with the Palestinian cause, Habshi said that all the Tunisians support the Palestinian resistance, noting that the Tunisian Constitution “put the Palestinian cause on top of Tunisian support strategies.”

She noted that the anti-terror article in the constitution excluded resistance movements. “Our duty as Tunisians is to support them,” she said.

Habshi accused Israel of assassinating the Tunisian engineer, citing previous assassinations of scientists, inventors and heroes. “This is not strange,” she said, “Israel has carried out several such crimes in Tunis.”
