US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking met on Friday with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman to discuss a comprehensive political solution to Yemen's civil war, Anadolu Agency reported.
The US diplomat and Bin Salman discussed the latest developments in Yemen and reviewed the joint efforts exerted by their countries to reach a political solution to the crisis.
On Thursday, Lenderking arrived in Saudi Arabia for a tour of the kingdom along with the Sultanate of Oman to discuss the situation in Yemen.
In an earlier statement, the US Department of State stated that Lenderking: "Will travel to Saudi Arabia and Oman on 29 April, where he will hold meetings with senior government officials and work jointly with UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths."
The statement added: "The US Special Envoy Lenderking's discussions will focus on ensuring the regular and unimpeded delivery of commodities and humanitarian assistance throughout Yemen, promoting a lasting ceasefire and transitioning the parties to a political process."
It also confirmed: "The US Special Envoy will build on the international consensus to halt the Houthi offensive on Marib, which only worsens the humanitarian crisis threatening the Yemeni people."
