Palestinian Authority (PA) foreign ministry yesterday accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of complying with “extremists on the Israeli street” regarding his plan to crackdown on Palestinian media outlet, a statement reported by Quds Press said.

Rising tensions in the Occupied Territories have led to dozens of deaths and hundreds of clashes.

On Tuesday, Netanyahu said that he would propose new laws in preparation to shut down a number of Palestinian media outlets under the pretext of “incitement”.

During a security meeting in the wake of multiple alleged Palestinian attacks against Israelis, Netanyahu said the reason for the attacks was “incitement” instigated by the Palestinian media.

In a statement, the PA’s foreign ministry called for the free world to condemn the Israeli “incitement” against the Palestinian media, noting this incitement “sows the seeds of sedition and terror.”

It went on to condemn international organisations for keeping quiet following Netanyahu’s remarks, accusing them of “discriminating” between nations, saying this “distorts the humanitarian concepts”.
