Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met a number of Arab ambassadors at the 17th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, held in Venezuela yesterday.
Abbas informed them of the difficult circumstances in the occupied Palestinian territories amid an escalation of Israeli violence against Palestinian civilians and settlement activity.
His spokesman, Nabil Abu Rdeineh, said the Palestinian case was one of the central subjects of discussion during the summit.
Palestinian Deputy Prime Minister Ziad Abu Amr, and Palestinian Ambassador to Venezuela Linda Subih also attended the summit.
Abbas met with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Saturday to brief him on the Palestinian situation, and also reportedly met with Cuban President Raul Castro.
Abbas is due to attend the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York, US, today. While in the United States, the Palestinian president is set to meet a number of foreign dignitaries, including US Secretary of State John Kerry.
