You make it to Europe by boat

You are taken to a reception centre on the small Italian island of Lampedusa. Italy is not the main destination for most and you wish to continue towards either Germany or the UK.

However standing in your way is a treaty known as the Dublin Regulation, which stipulates that refugees must claim asylum in the first EU country they enter. The Italian authorities wish to fingerprint you and take your photo ID, which means even if you did make it to Germany, where you actually have an aunt residing, Germany will not offer you protection and you can be sent back to Italy.
